Pres. Duterte's recent remark about God triggered his detractors to rage against him for the nth time.
In one of his most recent speeches, Pres. Duterte said, "Who is this stupid God? Estupido talaga itong p***** i** kung ganun. You created some --- something perfect and then you think of an event that would tempt and destroy the quality of your work".
Such remark during the 2018 National ICT Summit in Davao City earned the tough-talking president tons of contradicting reactions from not only his regular critics but also, his very own supporters himself.
A professor from the University of the Philippines is one of them.
Prof. Francisco Pascual Tranquilino, also a Doctor, is one of the staunch supporters of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.
Tranquilino expressed his opinion on the issue through a Facebook post.

He mentioned what Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church himself, has recently said:
“It is better to be an atheist than a hypocritical Catholic. There are those who say, ‘I am very Catholic, I always go to mass, I belong to this and that association,” some of these people should also say “‘my life is not Christian, I don’t pay my employees proper salaries, I exploit people, I do dirty business, I launder money, [I lead] a double life.”

And then he added what Perfecto Yasay, a pastor who is a close friend of Duterte and became one his cabinet members, once wrote:
“But more significant than his frequent foul language that can be annoying to many, I know Rody up close as a person with a big heart and noble vision, who truly respects the dignity in every human being, especially the poor, the needy and oppressed whom he cares, loves and readily helps with devotion, consistency, integrity and sincerity and inspired by the same Christian values that many of us hold dear. I have learned to greatly respect him as a dedicated, honest, brave and decisive leader that our country needs for its survival at this critical time and to make meaningful change and advancement a reality.”

And then the UP Professor also shared his thoughts about how he see the president's controversial statement.
According to him, he did not vote for Duterte based on whether or not he believe in God. But rather, he voted for him because of the president's stand on the issues that the country is facing: poverty, crimes, corruption, and dr*g problem.
I DID NOT VOTE FOR DUTERTE BECAUSE HE BELIEVE OR DID NOT BELIEVE IN GOD. I VOTED FOR HIM BECAUSE I BELIEVE HE HAS A NOBLE VISION FOR THE COUNTRY AND A GENUINE CONCERN FOR THE POOR, THE NEEDY AND THE OPPRESSED. HE SHOWS INTEGRITY, HONESTY AND SINCERE INTENTION TO RID OUR COUNTRY OF CORRUPTION, DRGS AND DECADES OF INEFFICIENT BUREAUCRACY AND STAGNATION.
Dr. Tranquilino then added that the highest leader of the land is more than christian than most of the people who continue to criticize him for his comments that were being taken out of context.
HE IS MORE CHRISTIAN THAN MOST OF US WHO CONTINUE TO BASH HIM FOR HIS UNBRIDLED COMMENTS AGAINST CATHOLIC TEACHINGS WHICH WERE TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT.
The professor concluded his post with hashtags and one of them reads 'definitely more christian than socrates'.
