LP event in Marikina, a premature campaigning says election lawyer

LP event in Marikina

Atty. Glenn Chong who bravely defends the fight against Smartmatic and Commission on Election’s intended glitch issues on the previous 2016 election is now hitting the LP or what they call as Lapian “ng mga kadiring” Politiko- a label invented for Liberal Party.

According to Chong’s post, political personalities from LP have filed candidacy which made them as senatorial candidates for 2019. However, it strictly mandated in the law that the campaign shall start on February next year.

Marikina event

A program initiated by the Liberal Party was held today in Marikina. For Chong, it is clearly a move for an early campaign as candidates were presented and each was given a chance to speak on the event as if introducing their platform. The 8 senatorial aspirants to bring the opposition slate are Mar Roxas, Gary Alejano of Magdalo, Erin Tanada, Samira Gutoc-Tamawis, Jose Manuel Diokno who is a human rights lawyer, Bam Aquino, Romulo Macalintal, and Florin Hilbay.

Former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III attends the event as well.

Not an election offense

Atty Glenn Chong

Though not an election offense, representative Chong says that James Jimenez of Comelec despise the early campaign of the said politicians, saying,

“Kadiri kayo.”

Netizens, on the other hand, despise such action from the Liberal Party. One even says that despite working hard for the campaign, the party candidates won’t win any Senate seat in any way. They were tagged as lawbreaker for not following the mandatory election period as stated in the law. And even called as “atat” and shameless for doing a premature campaign.

Netizen’s take on premature LP campaign

Netizens call out COMELEC to do something about the agenda and as well to prove that there is no exemption to the rules. LP’s event backfires at them as netizens claim superiority from their end in case something unacceptable is done but anything at fault seen on present administration, they gravely criticize the latter as if it does nothing good to people.

I agree!

Hindi na talaga natatablan ng hiya ang mga kasapi ng Lapian "ng mga kadiring" Politiko (LP)!

READ: Malacañang’s statement on UN Special Rapporteur Agnes Callamard’s PH visit

From Presidential Spokesperson Ernest Abella: “We are aware that Dr. Callamard is currently in the Philippines and we are disappointed that, in not contacting our government in advance of this visit, she has sent a clear signal that she is not interested in getting an objective perspective on the issues that are the focus of her responsibility. On September 26, 2016 we sent a letter to Dr. Callamard congratulating her on her appointment as UN Special Rapporteur and in that letter we issued an invitation for her to visit the Philippines to meet with members of our government and others to get our perspective on the drug menace confronting our country and the efforts of law enforcement and others to address that challenge within the means allowed by Philippine law. Our hope at that time was that Dr. Callamard would accept this invitation as part of a commitment to carry out her new responsibilities in a manner that was objective and fair to all perspectives on th...

Duterte suggests revolutionary government ‘to correct everything’

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (KING RODRIGUEZ/PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO/ MANILA BULLETIN) The President said on Tuesday he prefers the installation of a revolutionary government rather than to declare martial law or support a military-led coup if he cannot complete his six-year term. “You know, I said if I do not make it, huwag ninyong bitawan ito (Do not drop this). I’m not saying you initiate something like coup d’état. Huwag, kasi hindi na ‘yan tanggap ng Pilipino, eh (Don’t do that because Filipinos don’t accept that anymore),” he said at the oath-taking ceremony of newly promoted fire, jail, and coast guard officials in Malacañang. “If you want an outright…huwag martial law (not martial law).
