This is a great news for interested applicants who wants to work at the government under the Duterte administration.
President Rodrigo Duterte during his visit at the housing project for soldiers in Bulacan on Monday said he would hire government workers as long as they are honest and competent.
No to corrupt officials
Duterte strongly urges his cabinet members to work with integrity. Corruption is rampant even before his presidency.
“I am not nagpapapogi-pogi sabihin na corrupt — incorruptible… Basta ako trabaho lang. [I am not trying to earn brownie points and say I am incorruptible. I will just work]. I resolve to do my job properly and expect everybody who works for me lalo na sa Cabinet to work honestly also,” he said.
“The problem is along the way, ang corruption talaga sa gobyerno grabe [corruption in government is severe]. Down to the local level,” he added.
Future government workers
President Duterte strongly emphasize that in working for him during his term, proof of civil service eligibility to get the job is not a requirement.
He said applicants no need to show proof that they are eligible for the job, as long as they are not competent and honest.
“If you want to work during my term, you are competent and you are honest, period. Wala na eligibility-eligibility [No more eligibility requirement],” Duterte said during a visit to a housing project for soldiers in Bulacan Monday.
“I am not trying to degrade the qualification, the level of qualification pero bigyan mo lang ako ‘yung honest person tapos ‘yung hindi corrupt [but give me an honest person, someone who is not corrupt],” he added.
He warned public servants to stop corruption while in power, because once caught he would not hesitate to fire the person.
“Wala na akong seremonya, you just go [I won’t hold any ceremony, you just go],” he said about the dismissal of erring public servants.
