Filipino Catholic’s open letter to Duterte: Stop attacking the Church and focus on preventing China from invading us.
Monty Mendigoria, a Catholic and the president of the Skateboard Association of the Philippines Inc. writes an open letter to the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. Mendigoria, it seems, is worried about the president giving our country to China.
Church issues
He started by telling the president that Catholics hear mass because they believe in God, not because of the priests. And if ever they give donations, it is from the own free will, and not anything that was imposed or something.
Some just want to be a good instrument while they walk the earth. So he advised the president that if he does not believe in God then he should let those who believe Him be. Stop attacking the Church and start focussing on the real issue.
The real issue
The real issue, as he said, is that China is starting to take over the Philippines and the president is actually allowing it. Chinese national is already migrating here in big numbers and the Chinese government is already starting to take over some territory.
Plea
He pleaded to the president that instead of attacking the Catholic Church, then he should start addressing these problems because he believes that the real problem is not with the Church, but with Dutertes governance itself.
He even mentioned that the people believed that the president's promises during the campaign period but according to him, none of the promises are being honored.
Dare
And then he dares the president that if he really is for the Filipino people as he has said in a lot of his speeches, then he should start by honoring his promises and also start with the China issue.
"If you're really a man of honor, be the solution to our country's problem and stop being the problem as what you are doing right now. Maawa ka sa Pilipinas. Maawa ka sa mga Pilipino," he said.

We Catholics, go to church because we worship God and not the priests. If we give donations to the church out of our own freewill, it is because we want to help and be instruments of God's work here on Earth. If you don't want to go church yourself, go ahead, it's up to you. Let God deal with you after. It's just this. Do not use the Catholic Church to divert our attention to the real issue. The real issue is CHINA IS SLOWLY TAKING OVER THE PHILIPPINES AND YOU ARE ALLOWING IT. Chinese nationals are migrating in the country in big numbers and the Chinese government is already taking over our territory.
Focus on the real issue Mr. President and refrain from attacking the Catholic Church. The problem is your governance and not our religion. Many believed in your promises during the campaign period and many looked at you as their hope especially the poor but what you're doing now is way too far from what you have promised. You always open your mouth with your foul words. That's fine if that's really your nature, we cannot change that anymore but please, don't sell our country to China. THE PHILIPPINES IS ALL WE HAVE. Our forefathers fought and died for our indepence and you're just letting it go. Now prove to us that you're for the Filipino people as you have said in your many speeches. If you're really a man of honor, be the solution to our country's problem and stop being the problem as what you are doing right now. Maawa ka sa Pilipinas. Maawa ka sa mga Pilipino."
