Is Ateneo Guilty Of Condoning Bullying Incident At School?

Amid the viral video of the bullying incident involving a junior high school student of Ateneo and their request to the people to stop spreading the video, many are left wondering why a prestigious school would’ve allowed bullying to happen in their school since it was proven that this was not the first time it happened.

Turning The Blind Eye?

The bullying suspect, Joaquin Montes and his brother are allegedly notorious bullies in Ateneo. His brother was even professedly kicked out of San Beda for the very same reason - bullying. They are Taekwondo black belters, which explains the reason why they think they can just beat anyone.

The fact of the matter is, despite several complaints from their victims’ parents, Ateneo has not taken action on their bullying behaviors. The viral video was not the first time that Joaquin Montes showed deviant behavior, there were other complaints in the past, but Ateneo turned a blind eye and refused to expel these bullies.

Politics Involved?

According to a post shared by Z Blog on Facebook, one of the reasons that Ateneo can’t seem to take action on the matter is that the Montes is a well-connected family. They are said to be close friends of the Cojuangcos, to Peping Cojuangco to be specific.

We all know that the Cojuangcos are one of the biggest sponsors of the Ateneo sports program, and they would tend to lose a lot if Cojuangco would withdraw his support because they punished his friend’s son.

Stand Up Against Bullying

Netizens were disappointed by the turtle-paced action that Ateneo seems to be doing regarding the bullying incident. They announced that they are investigating on the matter, but with the overwhelming evidence and the previous complaints, it should be a no-brainer that the bully Montes should be expelled in their school.

A netizen gave a piece of sound advice to the prestigious school, do what is right and stand up against Bullying.

“Joaquin Montes and his older brother are both Taekwondo black belters. They love to bully and pick on everyone in school. Despite multiple complaints from various parents these last 3 years against the Montes brothers, the Ateneo school authorities chose to look the other way. Because Montes are well-connected (to Peping Cojuangco) Ateneo refuses to expel the Montes brothers. In fact, Ateneo has been requesting Youtube to take down videos of Montes bullying other kids. His brother was kicked out of San Beda for bullying.” -Eric Cabahug/Richard

What a shame Ateneo de Manila University!!! 👎🏻 Don’t stand by, stand up! #StopBullying

The self-righteousness and hypocrisy of activists ruin otherwise noble advocacies

Photo from getrealphilippines.com There are a lot of hypocrites in the Philippines. I think it has something to do with the country being religious. Mind you, being religious is different from being spiritual. Being religious is easy. It’s simply following dogma or “set of principles laid down by an authority as incontrovertibly true”. One doesn’t have to think much when one chooses to be religious. As a matter of fact, a lot of religious folks don’t think. They just follow whatever everyone else is doing in their religious organisation. Being spiritual is something else. It means being in tune with yourself and other people. It has more to do with following the natural flow of things. When someone is spiritual, it means he or she is in touch with everything around him or her. I think it’s the opposite of being religious because when a person is spiritual, that person is aware of her surroundings as opposed to blocking out what is happening in real life. Religious people tend ...

Duterte gives 24-hour ultimatum to address new ‘Tanim-Bala’ incident

President Duterte gave officials at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) 24 hours to investigate the recent “tanim-bala” or bullet-planting incident at the airport, his most-trusted aide said. President Rodrigo Duterte (ROBINSON NIÑAL JR./PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO/MANILA BULLETIN) Special Assistant to the President Christopher Go made the announcement to reporters in Davao City following the viral Facebook post of Kristine Moran chronicling the incident. Go said that the government has directed the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), and Office for Transportation Security to investigate the incident. “Inaalam ngayon ng authorities kung saan nanggaling ‘yon, kung ano ang puno’t dulo. Kung talaga bang hinulog para mangikil. So pakinggan din natin, antayin natin ang imbestigasyon (Authorities are finding out where the bullet came from, what really caused this incident. If the bullet was placed just to extort. So let’s wait...

‘The Philippines need more discipline, not more democracy’

Photo from  AM 1590 The ANSWER Three years ago, a blogger wrote a piece about the Philippines needing more discipline than democracy, and boy, was he on point. Let’s take a look at the current state of the country now, and play “spot the difference.” Lack Of Discipline Then: The blogger complained of the lack of discipline by the Filipinos. Garbage being thrown everywhere, reckless drivers roam the dangerous streets, and government office not doing their jobs properly. Now: With the present administration, the Filipino people have learned the value of discipline. They are disposing of their garbage the right way now, you can see the viral videos of motorists being apprehended for their traffic violations, and government offices and officials are now doing their jobs properly, or risk losing their jobs. Choosing The Right Leader Then: The blogger said that the problem with the Filipino voters is that they vote the wrong person for the job. They are ...
